It got very hot today, my Garmin showed 40 degrees C at midday. So the ride was quite strenuous because of the heat.

It went along various canals and rivers, but also through the (shadeless) hinterland. In Decize, I stopped for lunch at the first McDonnalds I’d passed on the tour so far. There is also a Lidl here to replenish my water supplies.

From Nevers onwards, the route is completely exposed to the sun, so the last 40 kilometers of the day were like riding in an oven. I couldn’t drink as much as I sweated out.

Fortunately, I had booked an Airbnb in La-Charite-sur-Loire for the night, so I was able to recover from the heat. La-Charite-sur-Loire has a beautiful city center and I felt very comfortable here.
